Great britain’s most famous secret agent has been starring in action movies for 50 years, and no one has a better eye for watches, women, villains and, of course, cars. When you hear the name of James Bond, his gray Aston Martin DB5 immediately comes to mind. This luxury coupé was the only car that could compete with the powerful presence of Sean Connery in Goldfinger (1964), the third feature of the classic series. The sports car was fully customized by Q, the head of the fictional research and development division of the British Secret Service: it had bulletproof glass, rockets, smoke screens, ejection seats and even a changeable license plate (suggested by director Guy Hamilton, who collected traffic tickets by the score). All these toys cost four times the market value of the vehicle, but the investment was worth it. Aston Martin became world famous, and the brand’s relationship with Bond continues to this day. Spectre, the latest film in the series, will see an Aston Martin designed especially for the film premiering in November: the DB10.
