When I read the essay written by Leonor Varela, a talented actress and amateur surfer, I understood why so many people are captivated by this sport. Varela talks about her first experiences on a surfboard and what it feels flight to “fly” atop a wave. The fear factor is nothing when compared to the adrenaline rush and the feeling of freedom.
